Yes, according to today's News-Press. They report that two Pac-10 players are actually transferring here, one from Cal and the other from Oregon State.

Yeah, I guess we make good bookends -- snaps knew about the Cal girl, I knew about the Oregon State girl. Big kudos to Lindsay!
BTW, Stacy Clinesmith has already left Oregon State. Seems like the opportunity to get an assist. coaching position there didn't look very good, so she's off trying to land that spot somewhere else. |

I just started the rumor about Kelsey Adrian (the Cal transfer...unless it ends up being one of the other two) to spice up the conversation here. I saw that
she was transferring and thought it would make sense if she ended up here.
And yes, who's the other player? No Newspress for me, either.
Trust me, you're gonna want that cowbell.

Kelsey is a 6'1" guard/forward from Cal. Alex has two years eligibility, is a 6'4" forward/center from Oregon State, scored 14 against
Gauchos last year:

A while back I posted I got a chance to talk with Coach G. One of the things she told me was we were really on the trail of a number of players but she asked
me not to mention it so I haven't. Ok now I can say she can recruit........The Oregon State player just killed us in our game here. My understanding is she
isn't done.

Lindsay the Recruiter | #9
|
1. We're going to be hearing a lot about Alex Mitchell (it's spelled with a "t" Ohio Gaucho).
2. ednsb: I heard the same thing from Lindsay. She's delivering. Interesting story: When recruiting Lindsay, UCSB talked to a Stanford contact, who said that she was not only a really good choice, but that they hoped UCSB would take her, because they were tired of having to recruit against her at Berkeley! 3. My scorecard on Coach G gets better everyday. Last year she handled coming in behind Mark great. She and her coaches showed me they knew the x and o of the
game well. I am not sure I can remember a game where she was out coached because she made changes if something wasn't working (within in reason) Her
advancement of some existing players within her system was very good - specifically Franey and Johnson. (BTW having had a few new bosses in my career (almost
every high tech company I have worked for has been purchased by someone else) you learn it is generally my way or the highway. So I figured we would lose a few
people who I really liked. She is working to get the community to stay involved like it did with Mark plus she has some real plans to get the students
involved. And now she is showing real recruiting power. So over all after the 1st year I give her a solid B+. That can easily become an A based on what happens
next year (somewhat of a transition year but I expect us to make NCAA) and then the following year which should be great based on what I see. My thoughts - of
course open to you all (talking with southern accent) comments...

Yuall hear this ednsb, your an easy grade giver...my best mark would be a B- and that would be with the good recruiting that she's done. She started her
season with a best in the Big West team and should have done well (which she did). She put in a new system and still kept it all together (though
losing some early games that she shouldn't of...yuall listening). This coming year is where her colors will show, as youall said and she can maybe
pull down that A that you've spoke of. I liked what you said...but your an easy deasy grade giver.

I'll go with a straight "B," leaning toward the "plus." You're expected to lose a couple of games you normally would win with a new
system to adjust to.

Well Bob, normal is equal to a C isn't it, so less than that is a C- isn't it? The new system, worked pretty well...most of the time...another C I
think. The personnel she used worked well with her system, although I think we all thought that there were a couple of the girls she could have used
more...another C I think. Her floor skills were good, to better than good...I think, at least a B. Her adjustment to the troops (girls) was tops, but we
still lost two girls...so over all maybe a B-. Her recruiting right now is pretty close to an A- I would say. Jerry

I prefer not to put too much emphasis upon a coach's choice of who to play because there are a lot of factors we can only guess about.
It seems to me she puts a lot of emphasis upon how the players practice during the week, how hard they are working to get to goals, etc. Under the present grading I might even give her a 4.5! Bob |

Ashlee heard from ... | #19

http://www.utahstateaggie.../spec-rel/052209aab.html
"I am happy of every choice I made that got me to this point," Brown said. "I met great people, did new things, experienced losing a coach and gaining a coach, playing to not playing and in some way all my experiences have made me a better young woman." Brown was originally recruited by Utah State out of Chandler HS, but signed with UC Santa Barbara prior to the 2007-08 season. "Although the first time around I passed up on my once in a lifetime opportunity, I couldn't the second time, and I know I will come out an even stronger, and smart young woman," Brown said. "I am 100% happy with my decision to attend Utah State University. Thanks to everyone on the staff, team, and community for making this decision almost impossible to turn away especially the second time around." Her freshman season. Brown earned the Big West's Sixth Man Award and was named to the all-Big West Freshman team. She was one of four players to have seen action in all 31 games during the 2007-08 season. Brown brought down 132 total rebounds her rookie campaign, third-most among the Gauchos. "Ashlee fits our point forward spot very well," Pebley said. "This next year will be a great opportunity for her to get herself completely ready to make an impact on the floor when her redshirt year is over." |
