TV game at Davis

It was announced that the game against Davis at Davis will be nationally televised on January 8. My schedule says the 7th and so does the program. What's up? Has the date been changed or is the game taped and not live?

Thanks to a friend who mentioned it at last night's game.

Melissa Zornig, of Santa Margarita Catholic, had a career night on December 11 against San Clemente in San Clemente. Santa Margarita won 75-66. Zornig, a 5'9" guard, had 43 points, 4 of 8 three pointers, 12 of 23 two pointers, three assists, and a steal. Wow!

Bright spot - Meagan with 18 and Jordan with 14

I'm no expert (or anything even close), but it seemed that there was no adjustment for the defensive changeup that UCLA made about 10 min into the game (at that point we were ahead!)
For some reason they really struggled against the UCLA full court press from that point on. Once the Bruins saw the fear in their eyes they continued with every possession and most very effectively.

...but it really wasn't that close. It looks as if the combination of beating Oregon State and 8 days off really made a difference. The offense was really clicking. I was particularly impressed with the performance of the Four Freshmen; Bree Richardson, Sweets Underwood, Meagan Krischer and Stef Corgel. Everybody played well and everyone who played scored. I follow both this site and the loco's. There is a string on the loco site which is very interesting. They are trying to figure out how to get more people to attend the gaucho games (yes including the women's game). While I am not a fast breaker nor a loco I have been around UCSB sports for over 40 years. We were ahead by nine with 10:36 to go.

Once again, turnovers were disastrous. We had 25 (see the box score for the ones with the slipperiest fingers). One of these years,. we are going to learn to take care of the ball.

Most of the other stats were pretty even - we outrebounded PS; the FG shooting percentages were in their favor and the FT's were in ours. We just had two critical turnovers that let them back in the game, when we could have put it away for good....

Or pretty close to it. The radio broadcast on 990 was the worst possible quality - as bad as I've ever heard. But I was able to interpret that much from what I heard on an earlier than planned trip to Home Depot. We played without Mekia Valentine and THAT certainly did show. I guess we are holding her out so that her hand gets better before we have to play Kentucky at noon Wednesday.
It was a good idea to see how we did without our "go to player" but the results cannot...

It was at least twice as bad as the FSC game. And, along with FSC losing to USC Sunday, it further dampens our early season.
From listening to it on a very faint signal from 990, I must say there were no good efforts let alone good performances, except that Mekia Valentine may have salvaged some decent numbers on blocks after playing more in the late part of the game after many exits to adjust her bandages and some early fouls. Not a very good performance. I can't blame altitude...

But, considering we were missing two players who were supposed to be starters, Margaret Johnson and Chris Spencer, and had Mekia Valentine playing with a very painful shooting hand, against a team that is supposed to win the WAC, it wasn't all that bad. The highlight was Jordan Franey scoring 27 points, 20 in the second half after Fresno clamped down on Emillie Johnson and Valentine's hand took a couple of painful shots from teammate passes and Fresno hands and elbows.
